Lorain County is governed by a board of three County Commissioners serving as the general administrative body for Lorain County. All Lorain County Commissioners are elected to office. The Lorain County Board of Commissioners is the budget and appropriating authority for Lorain County government and employs approximately 250 employees. Every agency (with the exception of the Motor Vehicle Gas Tax (MVGT), court, and other elected officeholder relies on the Lorain County Board of Commissioners for their budgets. The mission of the Lorain County Transit is to promote efficient and economic public transportation, which encourages economic development and increases opportunities to enhance independence and the quality of life in Lorain County.

Under administrative direction, plans for and directs the personnel and operations of the Lorain County Transit; administers grants and the agency’s budget; serves as liaison between the agency and other governmental agencies, the media, and the general public.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning or other related discipline, plus five (5) years of public sector transit management experience, or equivalent.
  • Must possess a current valid Ohio operator's license and maintain continuing eligibility for coverage under the existing vehicle insurance policy held by the County.
  • Compensation is based on qualifications and prior experience.

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Government grant programs/structure and process;
  • Generally accepted account principles (GAAP)
  • Marketing techniques budgeting, and public relations.
  • Federal, state and local laws related to transit regulations

ABILITY TO:

  • Deal with problems involving many variables within familiar context
  • Communicate effectively and develop a good rapport with employees from other departments and agencies
  • Handle sensitive contacts and inquiries from officials and public
